Metal Core PCB refers to circuit board with metal layer, always aluminum or copper, as its base instead of just fiberglass (FR4). The metal helps dissipate heat from high-power components. Widely used in LED lighting, power electronics, and automotive applications, MCPCBs improve reliability by reducing thermal stress.
From top to bottom:
1.Copper Layer
• Conductive layer where the electronic traces are etched.
• Thickness depends on current carrying needs.
2.Dielectric Layer
• Insulates the copper from the metal core.
• Transfers heat from components to the metal core.
3.Metal Core Layer
• Acts as a heat sink.
• Usually 1–3 mm thick aluminum or copper sheet.
Optional: Solder mask and silkscreen on the copper for assembly and labeling.
